Improved Production Racing Association

Improved Production Cars are just that. Production cars (touring cars) that we see and drive daily with modification to improve them for racing. The improvements give the competitor enough freedoms to learn and use their race craft and to give them enough speed and safety to enjoy their motor sport while keeping to a club level budget. We are a C.A.M.S. affiliated club which currently governs and polices our rules.

Improved Production Car requirements:

The body shell is to be unmodified except for wheel arches which can be added. Increased width can be only 50 mm per side.
Engines have to be from the same manufacturer with the same amount of cylinders and configuration. Rotary porting and restrictors to turbos are the only restrictions to engines.
Gearboxes are free provided they are kept in their original location and are non-sequential in their shift mechanism.
Wheels are restricted to 7" wide for under 3 litre cars and 8" wide for over 3 litre cars
All improved production cars that are raced on circuits around the country run on a Yokohama controlled tyre.

Cars can be built and purchased for as little as $7000 to $20000 and over. Please contact the club or C.A.M.S for current rules.

Our club championship recognises :

under 1600cc cars
1600cc to 2000cc
2000cc to 3000cc
3000cc to 6000cc

Many different makes of cars make our grids around the country including Mazda RX7s, BMWs, Toyotas, Hondas, Nissans, Holden Commodores and Falcons to name but a few. We run approximately 6 to 7 meetings a year in Queensland at Morgan Park (Warwick) and Queensland Raceway (Willowbank). Many of our local competitors compete interstate on a regular basis at tracks such as Phillip Island, Eastern Creek and Oran Park.

Our club meets on the 1st Monday of each month at the Brisbane Sporting Car Club rooms at Montague Rd, West End except public holidays. Please come along to a race meeting, have a look and talk to some of the competitors - but be warned it becomes addictive!
